What is crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is a means of raising capital online for specific projects. Each project sets a financial goal and end date. Crowdfunding allows a large number of people to each donate small amounts of money towards a project. They may receive project-related rewards in return.
Is it safe?
Yes, we use PayFast, one of South Africa’s leading reliable and secure payment gateways.
How do I pay?
PayFast (the payment gateway) allows you to pay with your credit card or via instant EFT.
Are donors charged hidden fees?
No, donors are charged only the amount they choose to donate and that is all.
Does it matter what country I live in?
No, PayFast (the payment gateway) accepts payment from anywhere in the world.
Is my donation publicly displayed?
No, Shofar protects the integrity of your donation. We will never provide your personal or donation information to any third party without your prior written consent.
Can I give anonymously?
Yes, just select that option.
Can I change my donation?
You can make a further donation, but you cannot withdraw or reduce your donation.
What are rewards and when can I expect them?
A reward is a project-related item you’ll receive in exchange for donating towards a specific project. Rewards are relevant to the project and each donation “level” offers its own unique reward. Therefore rewards differ according to the project and individual investment amount made. Please note that shipping of rewards outside of South Africa may not be supported. We intend to keep you updated regarding the status of the project as well as when rewards will be sent. Remember that although you have the option to donate anonymously, we won’t be able to reward you since we won’t have your details.
What if a project’s financial goal is not reached?
The project keeps the donations received – reaching the goal is not required. But the development of the project will go ahead, and alternative funding methods will then be utilised to completion.
What happens when a project receives more than its financial goal?
The project keeps the excess amount and how it is used is entirely project-dependent. More donations mean more people supported the project which results in more rewards needing to be produced and delivered.
What if I have questions about a project?
You’re welcome to ask! Email your questions to email@example.com. Please be sure to state clearly which project you’d like feedback on.
